Carbon Fiber Parts: Carbon Fiber Starter Kit

If you’re looking to get into making your own carbon fiber parts, but don’t know where to start…or don’t want to invest a bunch of money into more supplies/materials than you need…then look no further.  We’re proud to announce the newly available carbon fiber starter kit that has everything you need to get started.
Carbon fiber starter kit from Carbon Fiber Gear
Included in the kit are the following items:
  • 1 piece of REAL 3k 2×2 twill carbon fiber fabric 24” x 50”
  • 6.67 oz of epoxy resin
  • 3.33 oz of epoxy hardener
  • Mold Release Wax
  • 2 tongue depressors for stirring
  • 1 brush for applying epoxy
  • 1 squeegee to ensure proper wetout
  • 2 1oz measuring cups
  • 1 pair of gloves
  • Short instruction manual that covers the basics of carbon fiber layup and repair
There’s more than enough material to do quite a bit with the kit.  This kit is great for “skinning” products, which is a method in which you wrap a pre-existing part with carbon fiber to give it a carbon fiber look.  One example could be to wrap the side mirrors on your car, or aesthetic parts on your motorcycle, or even dash accents in your BMW.  Another thing you can do is repair reinforce things like R/C cars, carbon fiber hoods, etc.
One nice thing about this kit is that it uses epoxy rather than a polyester resin.  Typically polyester resin is used for aesthetic parts where the structural integrity doesn’t matter, but outside of that, polyester resin smells extremely bad.  Epoxy, on the other hand, doesn’t really smell, and the system used here is very clear once it’s cured.  It’s also much stronger and even UV-resistant which makes it great for parts that will be used outdoors.
Since epoxy is considered a hazardous material when shipping, we are only able to ship the carbon fiber kit to the 48 Continental US states, and it has to ship by UPS Ground.  To make things easy, we’re offering free shipping.
